Chapel Hill Parson’s Nose Shiraz 2013

McLaren Vale, Australia
PLCB Code# 72632

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2013 Parson’s Nose Shiraz has a pronounced nose of wild blueberries, crushed black plums and menthol with hints of cloves and anise. Full-bodied and richly fruited on the palate, the generous flavors are well supported by rounded tannins and lively acid before finishing with great length. Drink it now to 2019+.LP-B

Open-textured, expressive and inviting, with pure blackberry and dark plum flavors, deftly shaded with earthy, spicy overtones. Comes together harmoniously and finishes gracefully. Drink now through 2018.–HS

Very dark ruby color.  There are blueberry and oak aromas.  The fruit is ripe, but not jammy, with licorice oak and medium body, and dusty tannins on the finish.  My only complaint was that the fruit was a little light in the mid-palate, although it improved with time.
