(made from fruit grown in a single vineyard; fermented and aged in new French oak barrels for a year and then moved into large oak casks for another six months): Inky ruby. Smoky, oak-spiced dark berries, cola and violet on the perfumed nose and in the mouth. Plush and open-knit, displaying good thrust and building spiciness. Round, harmonious tannins give shape to the finish, which features notes of vanilla and cherry pit.”

On the fresher side of the Rioja spectrum, this red combines soft and juicy cherry characters with vanilla and sweet spice, underpinned by light, pleasantly dry and chalky tannins. Available in Ontario.
